This call was heard on the NE sensor at 0509 hrs 15 Oct 2010, also calling on the clip are Eastern Koel, Brown Cuckoo-dove, Peaceful Dove and Eastern Whipbird, I feel that it is almost certainly a Fan-tailed or Brush Cuckoo but please feel-free to differ 😉

One response to “Cuckoo species?”

Excellent work, I’m very interested in the equipment used to capture these sounds, would love to do the same here.

I was expecting this poss cuckoo call to match some of the nocturnal (often overhead) calls I hear and suspect cuckoo sp, but this is different!
I wouldn’t be suprised if it’s one of the sp you’ve suggested, they seem to have a variety of subtle phrases.
It sounds a bit like a King Quail though, one of the shorter calls I sometimes hear.
I love a good mystery! Thanks & keep going, some valuable results surely coming from this project.
    Cheers.
